The Reserve
Cabernet Sauvignon & Shiraz 2004- Vintage quality: After good spring rains, summer was dry as usual. An unexpectedly cool January was perfect for the grapes to ripen while the vines maintained healthy canopies. Cooler temperatures enabled the grapes to maintain excellent natural acidity levels and very deep, rich colours. February and March were quite dry and balmy with cool nights and warm days, perfect conditions for Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz flavour development. A long, cool autumn ensured that each parcel of fruit was harvested with optimum flavour.
- Cellar guide: Decant and enjoy now or cellar to 2044.
- Last tasted: Andrew Caillard
- Notes: A beautifully evocative wine showing the earthy polished leather characters, buoyancy/ volume and complexity achieved through bottle-age. Should hold up for many years to come.
