Wines of authenticity and distinction
The heart of Yalumba’s legacy remains its iconic blends of Cabernet and Shiraz, for decades led by the acclaimed The Signature, FDR1A, and most recently The Caley — an extraordinary union of Coonawarra Cabernet and Barossa Shiraz.
With ancient vines sustained by the world’s oldest soils and enriched by the craftsmanship of generations, Yalumba is writing the next chapter in Australia’s fine wine story — a future for the wine world that thrives with authenticity, diversity, and distinction.

Sharing the best of the Barossa and South Australia
While the Barossa is our home, we draw on the varied climates and soil types across Australia to make wines grown in some of the country’s finest wine regions.
Winemaking is just one part of our story
Yalumba operates the Southern Hemisphere’s only fully operational Cooperage, crafting bespoke oak barrels that elevate the wines aged within them. Our Nursery is a global leader in wine innovation, growing, evaluating and supplying quality grape vines to the Australian wine industry.
Experience the result of 175 years of winemaking
For 175 years, our family has explored and admired the great wines of the world and have become enamored with a few special bottles that have made their way to our Family Museum at Yalumba. Each bottle represents the place, people, vintage and variety which, combined, forms an irreplicable moment in time and adds to the rich history of the world of fine wine.
Over the last few decades, we have set aside parcels of the best vintages of our finest wines within the Museum – The Signature, The Menzies, The Octavius and The Caley – each deserving of a place in our Museum and the history book.
In our monumental 175th year, our family releases an exceedingly limited collection of Yalumba’s rarest and finest wines for the first time. At the time of the inaugural Museum Release, these wines are aged up to 20 years and capture the essence of our commitment to wines of pedigree and exceptional quality. A fine wine legacy 175 years in the making.
Acknowledgment of Country
The Yalumba story began in 1847 when Samuel Smith arrived in South Australia by boat from the small town of Wareham in Dorset, UK, in search of a new life and adventure. Upon reaching Angaston, he settled on land that had been cared for by the Peramangk people for millennia.
As a person with a deep respect for the land, Samuel named his family farm Yalumba — a word believed to be from the Peramangk language, meaning “all the country around.” While we don’t have records detailing how he came across this beautiful word, we now understand that this land was, and always will be, Peramangk land.
We acknowledge the Peramangk people as the traditional owners of the land on which we stand today in Eden Valley, and we extend our respect to their Elders past and present.
We are proud to share the stories behind our history and wines, and in doing so, we pay homage to the rich tradition of storytelling cultivated by the world’s oldest living culture.
