The Caley
Cabernet & Shiraz 2014- Vintage quality: Coonawarra: A wet winter with cold, windy conditions during flowering set lower yields. Summer was dry and warm with cool nights and little rain, enabling the Cabernet to achieve deep colour, bright varietal flavours and harmonious tannin structure. Barossa: Good winter and early spring rains. Windy conditions during flowering set lower yields. Late spring and summer were dry and warm. On the 14th and 15th of February 100mm of rain fell. This cooler weather caused ripening to slow down and the rest of vintage progressed at an almost leisurely pace, giving us grapes with intense flavours and some of the best tannin and natural acidity we’ve seen.
- Cellar guide: Decant and enjoy now or cellar to 2034.
- Last tasted: Andrew Caillard
- Notes: A beautiful wine that has developed into something special and lasting. Evoking the very best of the Australian Cabernet Shiraz tradition, it’s destined to become a classic vintage of the decade.
