The Octavius Barossa Old Vine Shiraz
Shiraz 1995- Vintage quality: It was a difficult season in the Barossa in 1995 with reduced crops caused by dry conditions. Only the oldest dry grown vineyards were able to withstand the lack of rain, with the Barossa Valley floor containing the best of them.
- Cellar guide: 15+ Years
- Last tasted: 1998, Simon Adams, Winemaker
- Notes: Deep plum in colour, the nose is very earthy with strong cooking chocolate, star anise and coffee aromas. Hints of leather, game and briar berries will continue to evolve with time. The palate displays rich texture and firm tannins. This was a tough season and the wine shows all the attributes associated with this being firm and focused and requiring long term maturation to soften.
