These chilly winter weekends are all about staying inside, reading books, listening to your favourite old records and slow cooking.
There’s something visceral about a vanilla slice. Such a seemingly simple bakery treat has an extraordinary ability to prompt a myriad of emotions: from nostalgia to guilt to helpless surrender.
We continually strive to reduce our environmental impact, and make great wine with minimal intervention. We believe that healthier vines create better wines.
The Wine Room is Yalumba’s cellar door in the Barossa, and is open from 10am to 5pm every day, offering tastings and winery tours from 10am to 5pm every day.
Founded in 1849, Yalumba is a fiercely independent family-owned winery nestled in the heart of the Barossa. Learn about our heritage and innovative practices.
Experience Yalumba winery at our cellar door in the Barossa, at our events around Australia, or in our bed and breakfast accommodation in the Coonawarra.
Warm, inviting mocha notes intermingled with elegant oak greet the nose. Shows a surprising richness for a 47-year-old wine with prune and plum flavours supported by subtle wood, fine balance and a lovely tannin texture.
Coffee, peat and chocolate aromas on the nose with a lifted hint of volatility. The palate is hot and dusty with anise, mint and fading baked fruit flavours leading into an alcohol-warm, astringent finish.
Mahogany brown in colour. Subtle red fruit notes are still evident on the nose along with a choc-caramel influence. A spicy wine on the palate that shows a solid oak influence with a firmer tannin backbone and longer finish than the ‘Oliver Jenkinson’ also made from vintage 1964.
Dusty aromas that offer an interesting mix of chocolate, honeycomb and crème brûlée characters with an oxidised note. The palate shows considerable aged development with spice and baked fruit characters leading into a modestly persistent finish.
