After the success of last year’s partnership with delicious. and Escape to launch the ‘Book a Table, Embrace Australia’ movement, we are excited to be part of the initiative again with delicious, and now alongside taste.com.au.
At Yalumba, we work with many talented restaurateurs and sommeliers who are passionate about making sure people get the most out of every dining experience, and this year we're focusing on our fantastic CBD-based restaurants, encouraging people to travel and explore our vibrant cities.
It’s more important than ever to continue supporting our local restaurant industry after yet another difficult year. So we’re calling for everyone to book a table or order takeaway to keep this integral part of our community alive.
For anyone missing international travel, you can fill the void with the incredible array of international cuisine our cities have to offer – from Italian, Mediterranean to Middle Eastern and Japanese, we are spoilt for choice here in Australia.
A well-matched wine will elevate any dining experience. But, with such a huge array of dishes and varietals on offer, how can you nail it every time?
We say versatility is key. We’re so lucky in Australia to be able to enjoy many different cuisines, and Yalumba wines reflect this diversity.
Our wines are made in a food-friendly style that lends itself to lots of assorted flavours. We have some of the oldest Grenache and Viognier vines in the world, which are two of the most versatile varieties when it comes to pairing with different flavours. We always have a couple on hand as they’ll go with just about anything.
Finding the perfect food and wine match can seem daunting but we recommend keeping it simple by looking for flavours that complement rather than overpower. The easiest way is to match delicate to delicate, bold to bold. For instance, spicy, bold Italian flavours will stand up to a full-bodied red wine, such as Shiraz or a Shiraz Cabernet blend, whereas a delicate Japanese dish is better suited to a crisp, light white such as Chardonnay or Viognier. For Middle Eastern cuisine, our Viognier and Grenache are perfectly suited to herby and spicy flavours. Wine should have the same flavour intensity as the food.
The next big trend for wine? Grenache, Grenache, Grenache! It’s delicious to sip by the fire through winter, or try it slightly chilled in summer.
Whatever your drop of choice, Yalumba wines are made to take you on an incredible journey with every glass.
