When it comes to coffee we’re spoilt for choice in the Barossa. So instead of just listing one coffee spot, here are a few of our favourites from around the Valley.
Darling’s Café is a favourite among our Tanunda residents, with its Coffee Barun beans, moorish hot chocolate and delicious breakfast and lunch menu.
Hive in Angaston has stood the test of time with its regional produce and great lattés. Casacarboni is another popular alternative, they are experts in strong Italian coffee and the atmosphere is decidedly European, make sure you take home some of their homemade nougat. For something special in Nuriootpa our team love Fleur Social, with tasty brews including cold drip coffee, homemade bagels and an in-house florist.
For those looking for the best spots to taste not only the Barossa’s finest wine, but also the Barossa’s best gin, beer and coffee, here’s our very own list of favourites for you to visit next time you’re in the Valley.

Best Local and Craft Beer
The Greenock & Steins Taphouse
If you’re looking for a classic country pub experience, look no further than The Greenock. Established in 1864 this quaint little hotel complete with a roaring fireplace, friendly bar staff and a thriving front bar filled with local characters is the perfect place to stop and have a cleansing ale.
Supporters of craft brewers, The Greenock have an extensive list of beers on tap. But if you want to fit in with the locals, make sure you ask for a pint of Greenock Brewers Blonde or Victorville.
Situated within the Provenance Barossa food and beverage precinct along Barossa Valley Way – between Tanunda and Nuriootpa – Stein’s Taphouse is the perfect place to finish your day of wine tasting.
Touted as “a craft beer lovers’ paradise” Stein’s Taphouse has 14 taps dedicated to Australian craft beers on rotation, and 60 more craft beers available in cans or bottles.
For those who don’t love beer they also have a range of micro-distilled Australian spirits and liqueurs, as well as local and Australian wines.
Best Wine Bar & Restaurant
Wanera & La Bise
If you’re looking for a comforting home-style meal with a good bottle of wine, Wanera Wine Bar & Restaurant is the go-to spot for Angaston locals.
Perfectly situated in Angaston’s main street, Wanera is a favourite week-night dinner haunt for locals, with its warm and inviting décor, a comprehensive local wine list and delicious meals, made with fresh locally sourced produce, and Barossa favourites.
La Bise wine bar in Tanunda is another favourite for locals. With tapas, wine tastings, live music and Friday night ‘kick off” nibbles, it’s a vibrant local spot for a relaxed drink with friends, or the perfect way to finish a day of touring and tasting.
Best Non-Alcoholic Beverages
Maggie Beer
For those who prefer something a little lighter or alcohol-free, Maggie Beer produces a range of cordials and non-alcoholic wines including her Sangiovese Verjuice a Sparkling Ruby Cabernet and a Sparkling Chardonnay.
Visit her Farm Shop for a light lunch and fill your basket with a range of her goodies, including jams, preserves, and pates.
Maggie’s Verjuice is not only a delicious cordial, it’s great for cooking and also doubles as a fantastic mixer for gin and tonics.
Best Wine Collaboration
Vino Lokal
The Barossa is all about celebrating community and collaboration, which is why we love the Vino Lokal.
Vino Lokal of Barossa is a group of like-minded wine producers who came together over ten years ago with a common goal to protect and promote small batch, sub-regional winemaking. The six individual wineries represented at the Vino Lokal cellar door each have different winemaking styles, and together represent the breadth and diversity of the Barossa region.
Vino Lokal have recently spearheaded a unique wine collaboration, led by John Duval and Peter Schell, called The Grenache Project – where their six winemakers, made six different Grenache wines from the same single Barossa vineyard. The results are well worth tasting.
Best Spirits
Barossa Distilling Company
Just around the corners from Stein’s Taphouse in the Provenance Barossa precinct is the Barossa Distilling Company.
Here you’ll find the finest locally distilled gin, made to “capture the essence” of the Barossa. With creative infusions of up to 12 botanicals, distilled with premium quality Barossa grape spirit, each of their gins have a unique flavour profile that is quintessentially Barossa.
Try their more traditional Generations and Budburst Gins, the Barossa Shiraz Gin for something a little different, or their distinctive Barrel Aged Gin over ice.
Best Cocktails
Musque
If you’re feeling like a nightcap after indulging in a delicious meal at one of the Barossa’s many fine restaurants look no further than Musque.
Situated in the main street of Tanunda, Musque is a vibrant urban-style wine and food bar that serves the finest cocktails in the Valley and is open late for those who aren't quite ready to go home after dinner.
Musque also has a fantastic tapas-style menu for anyone looking for something light and delicious to finish off a day of tasting. Try one of their freshly brewed espresso Martinis for the ultimate indulgence.
Best Fine Wine Flights
Yalumba
It would be remiss of us not to mention our very own unique offering at Yalumba. While there are many wonderful wineries to visit in the Barossa, we think ours is pretty unique – with the historic Yalumba clock tower, a fully operational cooperage and stunning grounds to explore.
If you’re heading to the Yalumba Wine Room, make sure you try our Rare & Fine wine flight – a line-up of some of our finest wines, including The Menzies Cabernet Sauvignon, The Signature Cabernet Sauvignon & Shiraz, and The Octavius Shiraz.
Once you’ve discovered a wine you love, purchase a bottle and one of our Coopers Board platters to enjoy by the fire, or out on our sunny veranda or lush lawns.
