 | The 1998 vintage in the Barossa was nothing short of outstanding. Near-perfect growing conditions saw grapes achieve maximum ripeness and flavour. Yalumba's The Octavius 1998 was once again sourced from dry grown old bushvines that produced low crops (1-2 tonne/acre) of intensely rich and powerful Shiraz fruit. The resulting wine is dense red in colour with a complex nose of spice, pepper, fruitcake, coffee bean, violet and vanillin toasty oak. The palate is truly intense with concentrated layers of plum, licorice and black olives balanced by fine-grained tannins. This wine will see through to the long term and has at least 10 years of cellaring potential.
