"I recently had to order from one of Australia's best restaurant wine lists.
At first, I was excited; it featured so many great drops, it made the hair on the back of my neck stand up. There was only one problem: I couldn't really afford anything. The list was more than 20 pages long and while it had luxury covered, it almost totally neglected value.
So, when I was asked to compile a local restaurant's list, my priorities were wines suitable for the food; wines of celebratory quality; and, most importantly, wines of delicious affordability.
(an) example ... Yalumba Vermentino 2009 ... is a dry white made from an Italian grape grown in South Australia, and it's an absolute belter. Hunt (it) down."
