Yalumba Hand Picked Single Site Habermann Vineyard Grenache 2005
93 points - "Talk about a mouthful of a name! The Habermann Vineyard is in the Bethany sub-region of the Barossa Valley, at the foot of the ranges. The wine spent 18 months in French oak hogsheads. Some folks reckon that good grenache is not unlike good pinot noir. For the most part it's crazy talk but with a wine like this you see why people say it. It has a firmness to its tannin but an overall lightness - the wine seems stronger than its weight would predict. It tastes of roses and leather, earth and raspberries. It has good length, a minerally aftertaste, and excellent balance. There aren't too many grenache-based wines that really do it for me nowadays, but this is excellent - and it will be even better when it reaches maturity."
