"Gee it's a great time to be a chardonnay drinker. Having seen most of the recent Australian offerings flood my desk as I taste my way towards publishing the latest edition of the Penguin Good Australian Wine Guide, I'm constantly in awe of the quality available either side of the $25 mark. This is a prime example and showcases the Adelaide Hills' natural affinity with chardonnay. Yalumba has deployed the most up to date clonal material and crafted a savoury, complex mod-Australian style, plenty of well-handled oak, ferment-derived complexity and fine, intense texture. It pins itself out along fine lines of zesty acid, long and intense."
