2005 Yalumba 'Y Series' Shiraz Viognier
"One of the things that is most exciting about tasting for Quaff is seeing consistency from year to year in the best wines. This Yalumba Shiraz Viognier was one of the stars of Quaff tastings – as were both previous releases of the wine from the 2003 and 2004 vintages. Sourced from the Barossa, this has deep, dark berry fruit – black cherries, dark plums – is supple, smooth, rich and concentrated. It has fine balance between its fruits and tannins and is perfectly approachable now, although it could be cellared in the short term."
